Sanctum Version 3.2 Released!

The v3.2 update to Sanctum of the Archmage Chapters 1 – 2 has finally been released!

I heard from NinjaWeaselMan today and got his OK to host the Romantic Animations Suite on my website, so I decided not to delay releasing the Sanctum v3.2 update after all. I just finished updating the module pages and I think I’ve got everything set up OK, but if anyone has any problems downloading, installing or running it, please let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚

    And thank you for the release. I really love to play Sanctum of the Archmage, for the story,the characters and well, every part of it ;P . I hope to play the next chapters, but until then I will enjoy The Sight and Miracle Worker.

  2. Thanks to everyone for their great comments and enthusiasm! Please let me know what you think of the update, and particularly the new content:

    – Este’s new custom heads for the companions;

    – Hardpoints’ ridable pegasi and my newlt scripted ridable pegasus system;

    – NinjaWeasel’s romantic animations;

    – Rewrites of the shopping and crafting systems;

    – The combat upgrade to the “Flooded Cavern” encounter in Sanctum 2;

    – Phenotype and animation changes (cloaks and camera height while crawling, riding, etc.);

    – And of course all the little tweaks scattered throughout both modules.

    Please feel free to cast or update your votes on both modules as well. Leaving aside any needed bug fixes, this is the final version of Sanctum Chapters 1 and 2. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’m having trouble getting the modules to work. I keep getting the error message:

    Couldn’t load the Hak Pak File “sx_romance.hak”

    I downloaded and installed the Q v1.0 Haks Full – 7zip file from

    http://www.qnwn.net/home/index.php?option=com_weblinks&view=category&id=45&Itemid=94

    and in the readme in that archive it says the romance suite is included in the one of the haks there (the q_race.hak). What am I doing wrong? Do I need to download the sx_romance.hak seperatly, and if so where can I find it?

  4. I think I can actually answer that one. I’m pretty sure that sx_Romance.hak is the RAS downloaded from

    I managed to goof on the instalation of that particular hak, so it sticks in the mind.

    I’m having tremendous fun with my latest play though. I’m letting challenge be damned and matagaming with an RDD; but since I’ve already guided a wizard past that maliciously placed pink… worm thing, I think I’ve earned the right. ๐Ÿ˜€

    I have to say; I don’t think I’ve noticed any changes yet other than the fact that I’m having to haul food around. I didn’t pick up on the custom heads until they were pointed out, I also haven’t noticed crafting being any different that usual, other than rare metal seeming being a bit harder to come by.

  5. Xapati: Gelgarin’s answer on sx_romance.hak is exactly right. Sanctum 1 & 2 don’t use Project Q, although Sanctum 3 likely will.

    To see the crafting changes, check out the crafting options for the Adamantine ingots, the Mithral ingot in the forge, and the Ironwood and Elmwood planks. You’ll also find a nifty new item in a wall panel near the forge that you might get a kick out of.

    Umh.. the thing is, I have run into some troble while I was playing, and now I don’t know how to fix it.. Maybe you don’t either, but since you said that you wanted to know, so. Here goes. When I came to the top of Mount Cassandra, and you’re supposed to get on the pegasus, my game loaded, and then crashed. Now when I try to load a save game from Act 2, or start it all over again, it loads to about half, and then the game crashes. I don’t know if it’s just my computer that’s messed up, but…

  7. Hi Jessie, That sounds very strange, and I can’t think of anything other than a problem with your computer that would cause what you’re describing. If you were able to load Sanctum 2 to play through to Mount Cassandra then you should be able to load a previous savegame, and certainly re-start the module from the beginning. If you want to send me a copy of one of your savegames, I can try and load it up to see if I can get a clue what’s happening. Also, in your NWN directory, there should be a folder called "logs" with some text files in it. There might be some error messages in them that would give a hint as to what the cause of the crash was, and which might give me a clue to help diagnose your problem.

I’ll install it on another computer and see if it works. It’s actually not the first time that my computer has messed up games for me, so I’ll try that.

  10. Hey Andarian, just stopped by to tell you that I’m able to play SotA again ๐Ÿ™‚ It was a the “jxp_mountains” that was messed up, but now it’s fixed thanks to the wonderful people at P&T ๐Ÿ™‚

    Anyway, just wanted to let you know that I’m really enjoying it and I can’t wait for more ๐Ÿ˜€

  11. I belive that the error message was something like “list index out of bounds (187)” and Auddi (P&T) thought that it was corrupted. Actually, it started with that I couldn’t open her module Demonsbane, got an error message that said “list index out of bounds (9)” and then I got the tip to try and open all areas in the toolset and see wich gave an error message. And in that case it was that hak. So all I did was download it again and overwrote the files in the hak folder, then I decided (out of the blue) to try with SotA again and then it worked. ๐Ÿ™‚

    I’m sorry if it’s hard to follow, I’m just really sleepy.. ๐Ÿ˜›

    Oh, and… how’s it going with the next chapter? ๐Ÿ™‚

  12. Jessie: no, that makes perfect sense. Glad to hear that it was only your own copy that was affected and that it’s fixed now, and not a general problem. ๐Ÿ™‚

    Progress on the next chapter is slow, but the good news is that Iโ€™ve only really got one other thing going on thatโ€™s keeping me from getting going on it in earnest. The storyโ€™s been set for ages, and a lot of the infrastructure I needed is now in place now with the uipdates to the first 2 chapters. Itโ€™ll also have a little more of a traditional quest structure, which will be easier to build; so with all of that, I think it should go faster than the previous chapters.

    Sanctum 3 should be relatively short (probably similar in length to Sanctum 2), so hopefully it wonโ€™t be too long before I can get a beta version out for people to look at. Thereโ€™ll be one more chapter after that in NWN1 (Sanctum 4), whichโ€™ll complete โ€œThe Miracle Worker.โ€ Then itโ€™s on to โ€œThe Alliance,โ€ hopefully in Dragon Age.
