I’m planning one final update to the first two modules in the Sanctum of the Archmage series over the course of the next month. The Sanctum 1 update should merge the male and female Robin versions, add a handful of fixes, and make a few gameplay improvements that I’ve been thinking about. The Sanctum 2 update will add a couple of additional areas, scenes, and RP dialogues.
After that, I’ve been giving serious thought to how to approach the next module in the series. I haven’t made an absolutely final decision, but I’ve tentatively decided to give continuing the saga in Neverwinter Nights 2 another try. I’ve been encouraged by the fact that a lot of the things that drove me away from NWN2 six months ago have been improved.
One of the reasons why I’m thinking of making the switch now is that I have too many sequels planned to do the rest of them in NWN1. I’m going to have to make the switch sooner or later, and I think it would be best to do so when the saga is at a good “transition point.” If I go with this approach, I would probably “rename” Sanctum 2 to be Act II of Chapter 1 (The Sight), rather than Act I of Chapter 2 (The Miracle Worker). Then I would title the next (NWN2) module as Act I of Chapter 2 (The Miracle Worker). Renaming the modules after the fact will be a little awkward, but the reality is that Sanctum 2 is really more the conclusion of Chapter 1 than it is the beginning of Chapter 2.
Please feel free to comment — I’m very interested in feedback on this topic. ๐

I think it would be a good idea, though the problem of transferring a character across the games would make it tricky. There is one huge advantage though: creation of special feats for the sight ability. Could be interesting if you go that route.
(I’m not sure if my previous comments posted or not. Please forgive me multiple comments if that is the case. My mouse has been acting screwy….)
I canโt wait! Although I dread what Robin (both genders) will look like in NWN2. I havenโt seen a half elf head that didnโt look like a pig faced boy yet. LOL. Poor Robin! A superficial concern, I know, but what can I say?
I think it would be great to see this in NWN2- but its not an absolute necessity. Itโs the story I enjoy the most- It is just very captivating and fascinating!
I admit, though, it will be cool to visit sites we visited in NWN1, such as the gnomes and the beast men with even better graphics If you ever decided to do the first one in NWN2, youโd have some of the stuff already doneโฆ
Plus, I can’t help but look forward to some of the cut scenes and graphics during conversations. NWN just looks great that way…ITs going to be even prettier.
As far as names go, I think making Miracle worker part 2 of the sight… Would probably be the best choice. But whatever it is called I look forward to it!
I am not sure what it will be like, but I would definitely give it a try. Recreating my character in NWN 2 might be difficult, since character creation is always a bit tiresome for me (which is funny, because I refuse to use same character for two modules that have no relation whatsoever with each other. So I wouldn’t use the character I used in a Forgotten Realms setting in the Sanctum Modules. The offspring of a previous character being used in another setting is a different story, though… Anyway, as a result I have more than 50 original characters in NWN 1 already. Mmmmh…maybe it is *because* I have created so many characters, that character creation is so tiresome for me.). But at least I think I recall seeing a hairstyle that is very similar to my Hassaleh’s current one in NWN 2 already, so that shouldn’t be a problem.
I too have come to like NWN 2 in the past months. Not only was the MotB expansion better than the OC in my eyes, but it’s running pretty smooth now (though don’t get me started on how I have *three* different disc versions of the game, each with a different faulty section it came with. Way to go, Atari! In the end I decided I am not *that* opposed to buying the download version of the game… ยฌ_ยฌ At least the MotB disc seems to be without faults.). I am finally playing some mods too.
Oh, and let me just say, it seems you can really do a lot with NWN 2. For example, just looking at what Adam Miller is doing with the engine is amazing. So creating the special powers for Sanctum of the Archmage shouldn’t be that hard.
In any case, I can’t wait for the next Sanctum module. I am quite sure I’ll love it no matter if it is in NWN 1 or NWN 2.
